“Después de treinta años recorriendo África y de una década explorando los espectaculares paisajes de América del Sur, el Dakar, rally más grande del mundo, abre un nuevo capítulo de su historia en el Medio Oriente y el Reino de Arabia Saudita”, dice un comunicado de la organización.
Bolivia fue parte de la competencia internacional desde 2014 hasta 2018. No participó en la última edición de 2019, luego de que no hubo un acuerdo entre la organización y el Estado.
El Dakar tradicionalmente se corría entre Francia y África, pero amenazas terroristas obligaron a trasladarlo a Sudamérica desde 2009.
En el último año el rally se vio debilitado con la decisión de varios países de no ser parte de la competencia. La última edición en Sudamérica sólo se hizo en Perú.
