Michael falleció poco después de anunciar su gira This is it y sus fanáticos enloquecieron tanto que agotaron las entradas para el primer show en solo una hora. Y es que Michael retornaba luego de las acusaciones que recibió por abuso de menores.
Tres grandes oleadas de denuncias envolvieron al cantante. La primera fue en 1993, la segunda en 2005 y la tercera y más importante, porque convenció a quienes todavía creían en su inocencia, llegó tras su muerte, este año, con los documentales Leaving Neverland, estrenado en enero, y Killing Michael Jackson, que salió a la luz el domingo. En el primero, Wade Robson y James Safechuck convencieron a miles de personas de la pedofilia del músico con sus testimonios. En el último, tres policías muestran la habitación en la que falleció el cantante.
Pero no fue la única polémica, pues en estos años se libró una batalla legal por sus bienes, estimados en $us 1.000 millones, resultando como sus legítimos herederos su madre, Katherine, y sus hijos Prince Jr (22), Paris (21) y Prince Michael Jackson II.
Toda la controversia marcó a la gente que lo amaba, sobre todo a Paris, que intentó suicidarse en 2013 afectada por la depresión. Este año, tras la difusión de los documentales, la única hija del ‘rey del pop’ tuvo otra crisis.
Con tanta polémica, las redes se volcaron en contra del ‘rey’ y otros piden que se lo deje descansar en paz.
