El Ministerio Público procedió a la imputación formal de los exfiscales Edwin Blanco y Susana Boyán, por la presunta comisión del delito de amenazas contra Jhiery Fernández y los testigos que participaron en el juicio en que se condenó a 20 años de cárcel al médico por el caso Alexander.
La información fue proporcionada por la fiscal Amparo Morales, quien indicó que el caso fue abierto de oficio por el Ministerio Público y que luego se sumó al caso Jhiery Fernández como querellante.
Según Morales, los exfiscales amedrantaron a testigos, los amenazaron con iniciarles procesos, y hasta los convocaron fuera de las audiencias para advertirles que “si no hacían lo que tenían planificado iban a tener represalias”.
Respecto a Jhiery Fernández, la fiscal dijo que las amenazas eran de otras características, que incluso afectaron psicológicamente al médico.
Precisó que Edwin Blanco fue fiscal en la etapa preparatoria del proceso contra el médico y que Boyán siguió el caso en el juicio.
La fiscal Morales indicó que una autoridad judicial determinará cuándo se realizará la audiencia cautelar de los exfiscales. Anticipó que el Ministerio Público solicitarás medidas sustitutivas a la detención, porque el delito imputado no amerita un encarcelamiento preventivo.
Fernández salió libre en 2018 de la cárcel tras cuatro años de encarcelamiento por el caso Alexander. Se lo liberó después de conocerse un audio en que la juez Patricia Pacajes reveló que el médico era inocente y hubo presiones para inculparlo.
Blanco y Boyán, por su parte, renunciaron a la Fiscalía después de que fueron destinados a atender la ventanilla.
